Enjoy the Journey with Jamie Keddie

Every day is a chance to learn something new.

This idiom is applicable to teachers as well as students. Living in a reasonably advanced technological society, it seems that more and more teachers are willing to
adopt some interesting technologies as auxiliary teaching means.

The first technology introduced this week is Blogger. Let's appreciate one blog founded by Jamie Keddie

Organisation and Layout😊

I really enjoy the simple design as a novice blogger. With the white background, the sight of readers is easily attracted by those pictures and then naturally moves to the following titles and one small part of the texts. For me, the labels set in the beginning and medium size of pictures and titles followed by the fine-print introduction do save much time of searching.🕑

Meanwhile, the colours in this blog are perfectly tuned to each other, which is pleasing to the eyes.  And through the adjustment of text formatting and combination of text, image, and video in each blog, Jamie is able to control the attention of readers, such as this one: The story of Mr O’s circle

Target Audience😉

It is noticed that Jamie Keddie's blog, fulfilled with stories of English language teachers, aims to allure more teachers to join his programme called Lesson Stream. Apparently, the blogger attempts to sell a soft-sell advertisement of Lesson Stream by sharing experiences or knowledge of other teachers. On each page, there is at least one link about the Lesson Stream. Therefore, the target audience is the teachers who are craving "the best lesson plans on the internet, a course library for professional development, and a supportive community of story-hungry teachers."

If you prefer to know more about this programme or the stories and experiences of other teachers, here is one introduction video of the blogger.

  2. Hi Hannah - great that you have got started with your blog and it's a really good first post. You give us useful information about Jamie Keddie's site and I very much enjoyed finding out about Mr O as that was a story I had not heard before! You are right that Jamie is using his blog to get subscribers and sell his lesson plans - but I still think there is enough free content and interesting reflection to be worth visiting, even if you didn't want to buy anything. Your own blog is very well laid out with relevant screenshots illustrating your points. I like the way you have included lots of links too so that your reader can quickly check out what you are saying if they want to. Just a small point - your first picture doesn't say where you got it from - make sure to always acknowledge your sources somewhere in your blog, and only use copyright free pictures. This is a great start to your blogging journey - I hope you enjoy the ride! Well done.

  3. Hi Hannah, a nice start when you are introducing the idiom. And I like your neat and organised blog, and I believe you have applied some features in your analysis well in your own blog (e.g. theme colour, links available and related pictures). Hoping to see more blogs in the future!(ง •̀_•́)ง
